Personal Wireless Network with Aruba Central Cloud Auth – Admin Managed

Published by

on

Personal Wireless Networks (PWN) are groups of user-owned Wi-Fi devices that connect and operate together in a VLAN, enabling communication within that network. It’s essential to ensure that only devices within the designated group can interact in one another, along with an added ability for the device owners to permit mDNS / SSDP based services to be shared with their friends. Hence extending the network’s usability in many vertical markets.

In this technote I’ll be demonstrating PWN solution, using Multi Pre-Shared Key (MPSK) on AOS10 APs and Cloud Auth to provide user role-based policies for segmentation without any dependency on an identity store.

My first try was with an AP505H adn A0S 10.4.1.6_91521 but no user panid and ping between users pass without restrictions.

In my second try, I update to 10.7.0.0_90579 and voila, now I have user panid and ping between users is restricted.

Nice guide Ariya, very clear and complete. Thanks a lot.

Hi delightfullydreamer18399fc849, I had the same experience. Discovered that PAN/PWN was introduced in AOS 10.6.x.x onwards, commenting in hopes that this helps the next person.
