Using Job Scheduler with CX Switches

Published by

This is a short technote on using job scheduler feature of CX switches.
Job scheduler feature is pretty cool because you can run bunch of CLI commands at particular time as well as periodically. There are numerous use cases and here I’ll cover three of them.

  • rebooting APs periodically at specific time
  • rebooting the switch.
  • resetting spanning tree statistic

    Hi.
I am trying to use the job-scheduler on a CX switch managed by Central.
    My logic is:
    Disable Central
    Toggle PoE
    Enable Central

But the disable central job failes with the output: Invalid input: auto-confirm
If I disable Central manually, the toggle PoE and enable Central jobs runs fine.

Have tried using aruba-central support-mode in the jobs as well. Same error: Invalid input: auto-confirm

Running only the toggle PoE job gives Invalid input: auto-confirm. Make kind of sense since the switch is managed by Central

    I’m running 10.13.1010.

Any tips/tricks to use job-scheduler on CX together with Central (UI groups)?

    My script:
    job central_disable
     desc disable Central
     10 cli config
     20 cli aruba-central
     30 cli disable
     40 cli end

    Best regards

I don’t think disabling Central in a Job Scheduler is supported for the switch that is managed by Central.
I tested the job scheduler using template groups for CX switches and that worked fine.
